Workshops

This spring 2011, the following special topic series that may be of specific benefit to supporting fertility through meditation and yoga are being held in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh at 1918 Murray Avenue:

Meditation in Motion: 4-class Series
Mondays 6:00-7:30 pm, 3/14 through 4/4
Facilitated by: Sharon Rudyk
Cost for 4-class series: $65 (Online Registration HERE)

Research indicates that the benefits of mindful breathing, gentle physical movements and a variety of techniques including visualization and meditation are powerful tools for health and healing. From reversing heart disease to changing the expression of your genes, a regular meditation practice has a significant impact on your quality of life. In this small group series, we will specifically explore a variety of meditation techniques that can be used by anyone regardless of your previous experience with yoga or meditation. We will do some physical movements, but these types of movements are very natural and can be accomplished by any adult regardless of your physical shape or abilities (they can even be done while sitting in a chair!). Relieve stress, relax the body and learn quick and simple ways to improve your quality of life every single day.

Fertile Ground: Yoga for Optimum Fertility
Thursdays 6:00-7:30 pm, 4/7 through 5/5 (no class 4/21)
Facilitated by: Sharon Rudyk
Cost for 4-class series: $80 (Online Registration HERE)

This is a yoga class for women of all ages who are either actively trying to conceive, struggling with fertility challenges or working to create a healthy relationship with their menstrual cycle and sexual rhythms. We learn to support optimum fertility through physical exercises, breathing, active relaxation and visualization. All of these activities support creative energy and health and vitality in all of the systems of the body. These yoga practices support the release of stress from deep within the body and mind. Additional information about nutrition and lifestyle choices will also be provided. These yoga practices are restorative and strengthening and are designed to support a healthy reproductive system, menstrual cycle and also the connection of menopause to renewed creativity. Our goal is to support optimum fertility, reproductive health and creativity—-so all women, of all ages, are truly welcome to explore how yoga practices can support health and grace in the feminine body, mind and spirit. Please note that we recommend registering for a series of four-classes ($80). If space permits, we welcome drop-in students for $25 per class. If you have questions about whether or not Yoga for Fertility is right for you, please contact Sharon directly at (412) 855-5692. If you are currently considering or starting an IVF cycle or engaged in any ART (Assisted Reproductive Therapy), private sessions that are specific to these treatments and processes are highly recommended. These classes will be held at 1918 Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill, across from the Giant Eagle and in the building between Gullifty’s and the Kosher Grocer. There are no refunds, exchanges, extensions or transfers for tuition for any reason. Please note when you register for the series that there is no class on Thursday, April 21–happy Passover and Easter!

The following workshops are regularly offered.  Schedule and registration available HERE. If you do not see these workshops scheduled now, please check back regularly as they are generally offered every 3-5 months.  If you would like to request a workshop, please feel free to send Sharon an e-mail: sharon@yogamatrika.com.  Sharon is willing to travel to offer these workshops for your private group or at your studio, just send an e-mail and request.

Fertile Ground: Tools for Supporting Optimum Fertility

In this workshop, we talk about how to support optimum fertility through meditation, energy work, exercise and nutrition. This workshop is for both men and women and no previous experience with yoga or meditation is required.

Yoga for the Creative Body

In this workshop, we practice a series of yoga poses that clear fear, frustration and anger from the body and clear the energetic body for creative potential.  This workshop is open to both men and women.  While perfect for any adult who may be experiencing challenges to their fertility, this is also a fabulous practice for artists, writers and anyone who feels like a clearing practice would open them to new creative potential.  We will not discuss fertility or infertility in this workshop and the emphasis will be on learning this series of poses, breathing exercises and visualizations.

Great Expectations: Yoga for Women Open to Conceiving

In this workshop, we learn and practice a series of yoga poses that provide a healing and restorative response in the body, mind and spirit.  This workshop is specifically for women who are open to conceiving a child at this time.  Many women who are actively trying to conceive find that they are encouraged to stop their more athletic yoga or exercise routines and they feel a significant loss in not being able to do these activities.  This yoga practice is wonderful for the body and supports optimum fertility.
